Do you mean on the same thing?
Pick a stitch to stop at which will be the end of the row
Knit up to the stitch
Turn work so the purl side of the bit you've just knitted is facing you
Purl back along where you've just knitted (perhaps use another needle if it feels a bit fiddly?)
I'm trying to think - I've done this when I've switched from circular knitting to doing short rows (e.g. turning a heel) on the same item, and I think that's all I've done. Does it make sense?

Sorry honey, I don't understand your question - actually I don't understand susie's answer either.
I've just been sawing, drilling and screwing - making a raised bed - must have my man brain on

do you mean converting a pattern thats knitted in the round (on four needles or circular) to flat (on two needles) ?
if its yes to that its just a case of reading the pattern carefully and reversing the stitches ie purl > knit and knit > purl etc
i did this with a pair of hand warmers, i just couldnt get the stitches to sit right ( or knit right!) on 4 needles so converted the pattern to a flat piece by following the pattern up to where you join it but turn and knit normally just doing the reverse of the next row

it took careful notes on the pattern though to get a matching pair of arm warmers!
if its not that then im confused

Its k - I found out how. When you knit on round needles you just do knit stitch all the time. To go from round to flat you swap over so that the long bit of wool is on the left needle and then instead of knit you purl. This creates the break and from this point you alternate just kinda go backwards and forwards instead of round and round - IYKWIM!
This makes 2 things I've learned today - I seem to have learned how to make yorkshire puddings too!

Ah, so you meant ordinary stocking stitch - knit a row purl a row, on straight needles. With you now - just swap hands

Gosh I didn't know you just did knit stitch all the time on circular needles (in the round). I don't knit like that as it is an alien world to me so I didn't know

. Oooooooooh it'll soon be time to get me knitting out as it's turned to winter here and the wood burner is on again!

I don't knit in the summer either MMM! Knitting in the winter is great - you keep your knees warm in the process!

Like you all I am in the process of switching from summer pursuits - outside all the time - to winter ones, knitting, crochet etc, trouble is the house is such a wreck after months of neglect, I can't relax in it! pbf.

Table lamps with low wattage bulbs - if you can't see the mess you can't worry about it!

thass the ticket
my big sis says she don't knit in summer either - but I find knitting socks isn't so warm, I'm working on a small stash of yarn and started six toes (the fiddly bit) ready to attack the rest in time for yule gift giving, circular knitting s great for lazy knits like me

and toe-upwards handy when you don't know how far the yarn will go

when I re-read that I just knew someone would

yeah - I have three on each foot, like a sloth
the recipe I went for was a free pattern from Wendy Knits
http://media.wendyknits.net/media/sunrise-socks.pdf !! no copying for sale and no manufacturing for sale,
it's in 4ply but I've used it for an unknown and homespun as well (which is sorta errm Ish ply/weight

)

Are socks easy to knit then? I've been knitting for a while but always thought socks looked a bit complicated.
