Anybody growing Honeyberries ?
I keep looking at them in my catalogue but they are a little expensive to just "try" something to see what they're like.
The description sounds good, but then it would if you're trying to sell them wouldn't they ?
So, has anyone here either growing them or even just eaten some, and if so, are they all they're cracked up to be ?

never even heard of them. got a scientific name? If i were and evil PR bod, that sounds like what i would describe white mulberries as to entice people to buy them ;-)

I had to google and it's a species of honeysuckle with odd shaped berries. Sorry can't help you Tony - I know what you mean about strange fruit in catalogues/on TV that you can't buy in the shops to see if you like them first. Maybe they will become the new in thing like Goji berries (whatever they may taste like!).

The details are here Jed..

The thing that attracts me to them, apart from the name as I love honey, is that up this end of the world they fruit in May.

Sounds neat - Only worry would be how rampant is it - thinking of conventional honeysuckle is it comparable i wonder :-)

You need to google it and look at images Jed, it looks more like a shrub than a climber

I was interested to see what the flower was like but there's barely a mention/photo and they look a bit insignificant - shame as I thought if you could have a lovely looking and smelling shrub which also had edible berries then it would be worth it. If it's going to be insignificant like say a currant then unless the berries are something special then prob not worth it!
At least this week I have learned about two completely new variteies of Lonicera that I'd never heard of before (the ID photo I posted as well as this one).
