Well, just over a week since the pigs went to slaughter and we have collected our pork.

Pictures of our hoard : www.blumoon.co.uk/limetree/news.php?id=18

It is slightly more than I was expecting! Erm...sausage anyone?

Funnily enough I spent last Saturday afternoon making sausages, but NOT as many as you look like making.
For me the only trouble with large amounts of pork is I find the fat tastes decidedly manky after about three months in the freezer, but then that might just be my weird taste buds.
Either way, congratulations ....... many, many meals that have cost the planet virtually nothing and will taste far better than anything Mr Morrison can offer.

Eww...no thanks. I had the trotters for my jamaican friend who has a family trotter recipe :pukeright:

Tbh I was a vegetarian this time last year so I am rather pleased with myself for getting this far...baby steps...maybe next year I will try cheek. But never the lips! How can you eat a pig smile?

Oooh 4 is a LOT of pork. One of ours went to a neighbour, so we have just about managed to fit two pigs in a medium sized chest freezer - which is about 2/3 the size of one of those long ones, y'know?

God luck!

My OH has eaten pork cheeks often in restaurants and says they're lovely - and he's not a regular eater of 'icky' bits and wouldn't touch brains with a bargepole. Personally anything that comes from the head of anything is offputting even though I'll eat liver and kidney. I don't know why I feel like that! :dontknow: And that was before the neighbours' bash with their blasted veal heads all boiling in a lovely cauldron along with brains!!! :pale: :pale: :pale:
