Okay now i've got your attention is anyone out there taking garlic supplements? I have been taking them recently and then tonight i've just noted there is a talk on locally about the wonders of garlic as a natural pesticide. The talk is by a guy called Peter Josling who runs the Garlic Information Centre.

It seems that allicin is the magic bit with garlic but in the supplements i've been taking it is not stabilized so its efficacy is mooted. But stabilized allicin is available and from all accounts it sounds like a very good thing to take - so what's the deal, anyone out there a garlic fan, taking stabilized allicin, or garlic supplements? Thanks all.

I found Peter Josling featured in this video here:

I love garlic !! Don't know too much about it, but i do know that if you bury some cloves among the roots of rose-trees, this will discourage aphids from settling on the plant.

oooh I dunno about that SE - you should try going past someone in a French supermarket who reeks of garlic, you can smell them at 10 paces! :pukeright: :pukeright: :pukeright: Of course for best effect you need a garlic eating, smoking, bad breathed person with BO.

The only thing you should be careful about is that garlic acts as a natural blood thinner, so if you take anti-coagulants or high dose aspirin, it may affect your clotting. I was told by a pharmacist that, if taken in high quantities it can affect efficacy of the contracecptive pill  but not sure what constitutes a high dose :dontknow: But if large amounts eaten I suppose it could act as a contraceptive anyway!!! :silent: It has been shown to boost the immune system especially good if eaten with as little cooking as possible...back to garlic breath
