cedar oil as a natural flea treatment

hi peps, just wondered if any of you are using this remedy and if so with what results.Where can I buy it (and how much is it)or can I tap it. 
You can get cedarwood essential oil - but there are two different types (Atlantic and Virginian) and I don't know anything about treating animals with essential oils, bar putting a single drop of lavender on the back of my cats' neck when they get the occasional cold.
