Hi all,

I have an old fridge that has retired today and just wondering - has anyone used a old fridge on its back as a clamp (filled with straw or sand)

As I don't want to get rid of it if its going to be useful for a clamp in the later months ahead

Mick

Can't help you with the vegetables Mick, but I can heartily recommend an old fridge for storing apples.
There's another thread on here (wot I rote :study: ) about that but I stored my apples in an old (upright) fridge for 6 months due, I think, to the door seals keeping the carbon dioxide in.

I have just had to buy a new freezer so was looking to recycle the old one, folk use them for animal feed dry store around here but I have that..think I will see about storing fruit this year, have kept them in a barn on straw trays but very dependant on weather....this sounds hopeful cheers!
