After wearing my old trainers into the ground and breaking out of my old wellies my DOH bought me a pair of Muckboots for Christmas. They are fantastic. But it's only spring and my feet are getting sweaty. Now I need something for the warmer weather. Muckboots do something called the Eden shoe, but it says in the blurb that they have "All the exceptional warmth and comfort of the entire MuckBoot range in a Shoe". I don't want warmth. I want cool-th. So can anyone recommend some good quality footwear for gardening in warm weather, please?

• comfortable
• waterproof
• non-slip
• non-split
• easy to clean
• will last years

I'm not asking too much am I?

You are asking for what isn't made.

And my recommendations would be no good - 6 months and they are cream crackered usually with me.

A pair of cheap steelie work boots from the industrial suppliers should do the trick - leather and therefore breathable and waterpoof

Wish I could help but I too have tried just about every type of footwear for gardening in the summer. Winter is easy always wear either full length wellies or ankle boots.

Its always the sweaty feet sydrome. Have to admit the last few years I have mainly worn just plain sandals, probably not very practical but cool and comfortable. Just have to remember to wash my feet before I go to bed

I am with Mike, thats my preference!! Gets a bit tricky trying to dig, and putting all of your weight on the fork . Just do not do what I did a few years ago. I stood on a rake, and had to pull it back out of the sole of my foot . It really hurt.

I hardly dare say this and I haven't tried them but... would crocs work?

I'm no help. I wear flip flops.

When it gets too hot for wellies I wear my really old dirty trainers. When it's too hot for them I wear sandals (mine are all the trekking kind with thick soles) and then wash my feet when I come inside.

I was hoping you all knew about some magical footwear that had been kept a secret from me. Oh well.

You know how when you've finished using a fork you lift it up high and then the jab it down into the ground really hard so it can stand there? I did that last summer and forgot to move my foot The fork went straight through my trainers and into my foot. It dinnarf 'urt. So much as Mike's suggestion made me chuckle, I'm afraid skin is out for me this year - unless it's from some other creature and is a bit tougher than mine.

I think I'll wear my walking boots for a while, and when they get too warm, perhaps ordinary trainers and a brain. Now where can I get one of those?

I wear thos clog things ... that look like wellies that have been cut off .... they cost me a fiver from Wilkinsons and I been wearing them for 12 months... I wouldn't walk far in them as they are not comfy but great for the garden

That reminded me of the time I stood on a piece of wood with a large nail in - yes right through my foot. Maybe we should wear steel toe capped boots

I just put "gardening shoes" as a search on fleabay - there are loads Never occurred to me there would be so many - even steelies.

I'm of the garden in whatever you're wearing brigade. Fortunately I don't possess any stilettos

Are Muckboots what we used to call Muckers when horseriding? Sort of wellie foot with a nylon ankle length top and laces or velcros?
I find mine great for the garden (and dog walking) - just wear thick cotton socks in summer (for absorption) and thick wool ones in winter for warmth, acrylic socks make feet too hot and sweaty whatever the season

I'm with MMM, it's my 6 year old North Face trekking sandals for me, every time. Best £30.00 I ever spent, those sandals. I'm pretty sure I'll be wearing them in another 6 years, too.

See, I'm lucky because my feet don't really sweat - not like my youngest - eeeww!!!

So in winter, I wear dunlop wellies size 5.... in summer it's a size 4!

But it's always wellies......
