Its on my ear. Its not on the gristle though. Its almost right on the top of my ear in the flesh and its made the skin in that area almost loose if that makes sense??

It doesnt hurt at all but it has made me look like an elf
Never had anything like this before and wondered if anyone else has had something similar?

Nick

Sorry, no experience with lumps at top of the ear.

I've got a lump on my ear lobe though, just arrived last week.

Maybe it's lumpy ear season or something : :dontknow:

I'd go to the doctor because although many lumps are harmless or easily dealt with some lumps are neither and you want to be safe not sorry!

I had a lump in my earlobe once.

It was like a fleshy ball bearing under the skin that would move around (eugh!)

Can't remember what it was called, but it hung around for years. The doctor said it was harmless.

I used to like fiddling with it! But then one day it just slowly faded away. Suppose it is best to get these things checked out though.

Sorry if I have put anyone off their food.

Do you get ganglions in places like ears? I have one on my wrist that I constantly play with. It's worth getting it checked though, just to put your mind at rest.

So do I! but I don't play with it, in fact I hadn't even thought about it for ages until I read that. Sometimes I think it is ugly but 99% of the time don't even remember it is there.

Oooh, how queer! Which wrist is it on? Mine's on my left. And can you 'pop' it down into your flesh, just for it to pop out again a few minutes later? My kids are fascinated with my 'alien', they love to push it down and watch it pop up again, the gruesome buggers.

Apparently, the only way to get rid of them is have a GP smack it with a 'big black bible'. That's what I was told, anyway..

I heard someting similar - it was either that or a cold soup ladle! (Or was that some other kind of swelling? ) I use to get them when I was a barmaid - from repeatedly flicking the beer taps down!

Right hand side but it is a lump on the bone so it doesn't move, it just looks white and lumpy when I move my wrist and the skin moves over it. Is that a ganglion? I must go and google them.

Oooh wish I hadn't done that. Mine is very small in comparison and I'm quite put off my breakfast now from looking at those photos! :pale:

You lot are funny!

The traditional 'bible ganglions' are actually found on the back of the hand. The cysts are filled with fluid & yep, in the 'olden days', they would whack it with the family bible - because it was often the only book they had in the house & it was large & heavy enough to pop the cyst under the skin.

We know about these because little Leah gets one on the back of her left hand - although they are supposed to arise from RSI.... and we have no idea exactly what Leah does to warrant this!!?? As she's such a skinny little runt, the lump really stands out on her, but as soon as it appears, it disappears again - I just think you're all weirdos......

Mine isn't a ganglion, I did what you shouldn't really do and googled as mine is a hard immovable lump on my big wrist bone - it could be a bone spur, it could be a tumour..... But I've had it for at least 20 or 30 years so I think I'd know if I had cancer by now! No pain, can't be to do with arthritis or anything. Probably just one of those things and I'm just grateful it ain't on the end of my nose!

See, the description you gave of yours sounds exactly like mine; except I can pop mine in, and move it around a bit (it's on the underside of my wrist, right next to the scary blue veins and a lot of tendons, which is why the GP doesn't want it moved, in case removing it affects my tendons and causes a loss of flexibility). Julie - I'm not a small lass (too much beer, I think), but I do have ridiculously skinny wrists (and ankles), so it does make it look huge in comparison......

Twiglet, I was like that! Even when I went up to size 22, I could still wear 'fashion boots' - I didn't though, but me & the girls would have a right giggle out shopping - I had right skinny calves & lower arms - but everything else above the knee to the elbow was huge!!

I keep playing with/looking at mine now CT!!! It's quite obvious when I look at it, but I can't ever remember anyone ever commenting. Oh dear I hope I don't start getting a complex about it now.

You girls are making me miss mine, I have had two ganglians removed, one off my thumb that was stopping me from bending it, and was getting REAL sore :( and one off the side of my wrist that runs down to my thumb on the other hand, which had to get lopped off as it was cutting off the circulation to my first finger and thumb - it was BIG  they were much of a talking point with my (lumpless  ) friends lol!

I get mine because I have a connective tissues disorder, things in my bod are just waaaay too stretchy for their own good.

I wonder where the next one will be?
