EU ( hock - spit ) - bin police ??

Post: # 186529Post brett53 »

CAUTION : monday morning rant immenent :angryfire:

well the lady who puts out one bin a year will find favor with the latest crazy proposal from the accursed EU mafia in brussels - apparently in an EU ( :pukeright: ) report they are NOW recommending the establishment of an "waste implementation agency " - or in plain ENGLISH - BIN POLICE - which could cost up to 13 million a year to run ( administer ) VIS COST THE LONG SUFFERING UK TAX PAYER - :angryfire: :angryfire:

the agency ( allegedly ) would inspect the 27 member states to check bin laws where being enforced ( weird as i thought the concept OF bins had yet to arise in many parts of the member states where they still just Chuck their rubbish out in the streets )

so what this means folks - well for us here in the UK anyways is MORE interference - more snoopers - more petty officials - AND German style "bin taxes" - oh and TINY "euro" bins collected once in a blue moon

and of course like sheep - our dopey politicos will just go along with it all

so i guess we had ALL better start reading the one bin per year ladies blog to get some tips - as we will probably only get our bins COLLECTED once a year

never mind our big bins will come in useful as barricades when the people of this country eventually wake up and take back control of our OWN destiny -PLEASE GOD i live to see it happen

rule britannia and all that :brave:

( article in this weeks Sunday express )

** please to note i have NOTHING against the good CITIZENS of the EU states - just the corrupt politico mafia that runs it all and the dopey ideas they come up with - always said building thet bloody tunnel was a bad idea

Oh come on brett, let's be fair. We need more job opportunities. It'll be ideal for the uneducated yoof of today having to go and intrude into people's rubbish bins. Oh and it should give the rodent operatives more opportunities to charge us to clear our properties of unwanted visitors.

But of course any such moves should be easy to defeat. It'll be bad for the economy you know. If people don't keep filling up their bins and going shopping for more stuff, well we'll never be able to pay back all the money the government has borrowed. All one has to do is to educate a few MPS - that shouldn't be hard

You fancy leading a few demonstrations? We should be able to defeat any such silly ideas in quick time.

Educate a few MPs not hard? That statement is going to get Flo this century's prize for optimism

Seriously, though, although I agree with the EU madness sentiment, exactly what must we do to change a congenitally wasteful society into one which takes a bit more care of its environment? I'm going to sound like a rabid extremist, but I think that we are simply being given too much - too much money, too many excuses, too much reinforcement for the consumerist idea. It isn't THAT long ago (the 50s, probably) when waste was considered the next best thing to Satanism. We need to regain some of that philosophy (although I've always fancied a bit of the dark magic thing  ) - then we wouldn't need the Bin Police. At the moment, though, we seem to be so stupid and thoughtless that we're begging for such bureaucratic insanity.

yep got to agree with you there - but we all love an optimist :thumbright:

all started with supermarkets in my opinion - never had all this when i where a lad back in the 50's - certainly not the packaging etc - you had a basket for spuds - and 5 pounds was heavy  - other things came in brown paper bags - fish and chips in newspaper ( and it tasted better ) and basically we just did not HAVE many of the supposed "essentials " of today's lifestyle - and repair and reuse was the norm - not the exception

problem today is all summed up by that song "I wann it all an i wann it NOW " - PEOPLE ARE WANT WANT WANT ALL THE TIME - and the word NO is not taught to children because of these PC pussie psychologists and alleged experts who say they will feel/ be deprived and stigmatised if they don't have it all and NOW

UTTER BOLLIDES in my opinion - i ad it ard when i was a lad - never went hungry - but did not have any of the stuff that kids demand today - lucky to have 2 pair of shoes a year , but what you get if you have spoilt children is spoilt adults who produce MORE spoilt children ( read BRATS in many cases )

good job i don't have any - as they would be introduced to the REALITIES of life at a very early age ( and i would probably get done by social services for depriving them or something    )

and as to politico's ?? huh so totally out of touch with the realities of life down here near the bottom of the heap ( as there are of course worse off ) - does anyone seriously EXPECT them to know whats REALLY going on - or more to the point care ?? - would any of us on THEIR wages or perks if that's the lifestyle you had been brought up to ?? ( i do acknowledge that a few mp's are from "deprived " areas - but as we know the MAJORITY ain't - nor from deprived backgrounds  ) - some how i doubt it as power and money does indeed corrupt - in the sense it lessens ones regard for those less fortunate - as of course WE are beneath them in "social" standing

but ho hum - whats the point ?? - so long as it does not affect their lifestyle and material possessions - the vast majority are quite happy to let the status quo carry on

FOOLS , one day they will realise that money and possessions mean nothing in the greater scheme of things

Ah but there are two points that you are both missing:

1. If the consumer doesn't buy there is nothing for industry to make - result? No economic recovery to pay back the borrowings.

2. Landfill space is running out so there's nowhere to put the rubbish - result? Stop producing rubbish - which will wreck the economic recovery based on consumer demand.

The fact that economic recovery investment could (and should) have been more usefully based on alternative energy (using rubbish as one source), more sustainable food production, better environmentally friendly and affordable housing of which a lot should be social housing, better roads, better rail infrastructure, more environmentally friendly cars, buses, trains and such like is another topic completely.

But the powers that be don't have the intelligence to grab opportunities such as this with both hands now do they? We need to educate more than a few MPs methinks and fast.

ah but ..... Eco stuff ain't trendy or have bragging value to most people - you know " well we have just got a 96 inch gargantuan plasma TV with 9.7 surround sound and twin woofers that can shatter windows 3 miles away - 9.5 million channels and a DVD player built in " - is a LOT more interesting than ? i have just installed some solar panels and a compost bin to recycle food scraps "

you see folks - those of us who have eyes to see and brains not cluttered with the latest shenanigans on Corry or home and away or ( insert fave soap here ) such as the good folks HERE , have or are realising that materialistic things have little value - and it is most heartening to be with like minded people - oh sure we HAVE some material things - and use them - but are conscious of the real situation in the world and are trying to do our bit ( one hopes )

where as the average "consumer " is only really interested in "

outdoing the neighbors or relatives

keeping the significant other happy - by having the money to do above

keeping the brats amused with the latest toys and making sure that other brats and parents cant point and say THIR Lil angels are "underprivileged "

and being able to say " well we have ( insert whatever here )

now in Brett 53's book of realistic psychology - this adds up to one thing -insecurity !! - people these days seem to judge the worth ( as in standing ) of others by what they HAVE - NOT by the sort of person they are - in other words BS and bling is MORE important than honesty - decency - work ethic etc - and of course we have to factor in the old evil MONEY

alas as most people will never BE famous /rich/ well thought of etc - they compensate by the hording of material items and vulgar displays of "supposed " wealth ( mainly based on credit ) - such as how many and exotic holidays they "must" have each year

and of course WE "weird " ish'ers are either mad , Wallis and grommet types , ( been called that ) - tight , poor , etc - and are REALLY not proper people as we don't have all the toys - etc etc etc etc

personally i feel sorry for them - material wealth will not bring happiness or contentment as a look at the super rich will show - they just keep wanting more - where as ones health and a good partner will bring endless joy - i know i lost my lovely wife to cancer in 2006 - and would give the whole worlds riches for but one hour to tell her all the things that i maybe should of - but the worlds riches for all their allure cant do this - so to me - what value have they really ??

and yes i know - ( well hope) i am preaching to the converted here :thumbright:

most of us have rejected the rat race in our own ways - but for the majority - no hope till they are forced to wake up methinks - and then it may be too late

call me a cynic if you will

well i told you :angryfire: this from the daily express today : - enjoy

http://www.dailyexpress.co.uk/posts/view/157894

so are they going to "fine" those firms who PRODUCE all the packaging ?? - and what about the looney tunes recycling effort ?- different places recycle different things - unless the idiots that came up with this had not noticed

and what ? warrants to enter your property and inspect your bins ?? and if they give me any MORE bins - i can rent them out to students - or make a patio out of them because i will be walking on top of them in my tiny yard

methinks the loonies have reached new heights in the great green crusade -

as usual i blame the EU !!

yup. you're right. that's a rant.

here's mine.

i've lived all over. and i've never yet lived under ANY form of government - local, national, supranational - which was any better or any worse than any other.

none of them are any more or any less democratic than any other.

all of them pass the most stupid of laws. and all of them pass some decent ones.

all of them.

and that's regardless of political persuasion. left, right or centre.

so to my mind, people who blame the eu - more than any other form of government or rule or ruler - are being very naive and i find them rather annoying. i avoid political forums and the like to avoid such people. and i hope not to meet them on here.

i'm with the americans on this one: you got a problem? stop blaming others and deal with it.

my rant over.

I'd stop reading tabloids if I were you Brett. Aside from mostly being filled with nonsense, they can't be doing your blood pressure any good.

I can see what ther train of thought was on this one, i live on a very long street over 700 houses and on recycling day i can count the recycling bins that have been put out on one hand! so in my mind something should be done with these idiot's that think recycling is to much effort for them, HOWEVER! as usual they have got the solution WRONG!

But no big supprise there

aww come on guys - blaming the EU for any thing and everything is a national sport in the UK

and not naivety - realism !! - we are plagued with petty rules which REGARDLESS of ones political persuasion - ARE imposed on us by the mob in Brussels - as i have said before ( and let me reiterate this) - I have NOTHING against the good CITIZENS of the EU its the politicos :angryfire: - and more to the point the idiot consultants and advisers they employ to dream up all this c**P

much as I also would like politics NOT to affect this subject - it does - so as we say here "learn to deal with it "

my blood pressure is fine thanks for your concern though :thumbright: - so which paper would you recommend then ?? - as to me they are all much of a much as far as "news " go's - unless you only read the sports pages ( usually one of the more accurate bits of any paper   )

careful though before you answer that question as apparently ( according to experts and psychologists et al ) which paper you read says a lot about you  - i only read the express because ,well , actually i don't know why i DO read the express , done so for years - habit i guess

and it fits my parrots cage tray exactly

"We work for it, we can afford it, we have a right to it" is an attitude encouraged by lazy politicians who can't see how to run a country that isn't based on high street consumerism. Where there is high street consumerism there is rubbish.

Mind you - bread and circuses is a political attitude as old as the Roman Empire at least.

The government, as ever, has the wrong priorities. Sustainable farming, affordable eco friendly housing and power security might be a better use of it's small brain rather than worrying about consumer spending.

Bin inspectors are just the result of politicians who haven't a clue or who are trying to keep themselves in jobs.

Hello Brett ,

history repeats itsself , I share you're thoughts of the bunch of pri@$@ in Brussels .

Way back in the last century , somewhere around 1997 , I lived in Holland .
We then had wheelie bins , to my suprise one morning when we out the bin out a woman ,
came , opened the bin and started feeling around in it !
As good as I am ( was ) I asked the poor thing if she was hungry , would she like a coffee ,
but what an Insult she said she worked for the council , checking if we peasents were not
putting the wrong things in the bins !!!!!

What a way to make a living , and what a way to be so sick in the head to make this a paid job .

I feel sorry for these people , they cause global warming ,

regards ,

Paul

Er, um, don't you mean more job opportunities for highly educated Poles while the British Yoof look on, chew gum and complain that they can't get a job?
