Stop my neighbours cat using my lawn as a toilet?

Its as simple as that really,
It's well looked after, has a litter tray etc, but has taken to doing it all over my lawn, my lawn I might add that is fenced off to prevent my own dogs from doing just that, providing my kids with somewhere clean and safe to play!
is putting it lightly, I've had to clean up four little presents already this morning, and I don't mean to sound prissy, but I don't mind clearing up after my own pets - I accept that thats part of the deal when you choose to have a pet, but the neighbours cat?!!
I'm going to get the water pistol out to squirt it if I catch red handed so to speak

but I was wondering if anybody knows of anything I can put down on the lawn to discourage it from coming on?
Any advice would be most gratefully received, I want to stop this before it becomes an even bigger problem ( i'm just lucky that the girls aren't out there much right now!)
Cheers
Lorna x

keep the grass short (they prefer longer)
introduce smells they wont like. perfume moth balls...
i did hear that tiger dung from the zoo does the trick too....

Horrid : (
We have a cat scarer which plugs in. My mum got it for OH as he got upset about birds being eaten by neighbours cats. I very rarely see a cat in the garden since we had it (used to be several in everyday) and so no more poo on the lawn is an added bonus
Good luck, Jill

I've just created a couple of raised beds and a neighbour's cat thought they were giant litter trays. I didn't want to chase or squirt him, because he might have run towards the road (I've lost 2 or 3 cats on that road, so I'm extra careful). What seems to have stopped him for now is broken egg shells. I dry them out on the kitchen windowsil, then crush them lightly and scatter them around the edge of the beds. It pricks his paws and he doesn't like it. It would take a lot of eggs to cover the lawn, but if you start by putting them down where he enters your garden it might keep him out all together.

We had the same problem at our last house until we got one of those cat-deflectors (as I once called it!), a sonic thingie. Didn't have any trouble afterwards and our visiting birds increased.

i sympathise so much - we have this problem too. I bought a sonic thingie too, but am not convinced it works - I'm sure the cat (s) have worked out what it is & knock it over & carry on! Although our problem has been a bit intermittent for some reason..
My OH keeps adding it to the compost now.
Two things I have heard of (to be honest not tried them properly myself) are orange peel & chilli powder. (have both things in the house at the minute so may give it a go this week).
Even worse I find though, is people letting their dogs poop on the pavement outside our house (my OH had to clear some on Boxing Day so my parents didn't step into it on their way in

).

god i hate irresponsible dog owners they drive me up the bloody wall! outside my house i have a really lovely open field and nature reserve and woods but ever single person leaves their dog poop on the ground or even worse, bag it up and throw it in the bushes!! you can see it all now, like big brown stinky baubles in the bushes

i keep telling them off if i see them and im frequently getting the council out to clear it all up!

would it surprise you to know there are strategically placed dog waste bins all along the trail!

It really annoys me too, I am a dog owner but have always been a responsible one, have always picked up! It wouldn't even occur to me not to, in fact I find myself picking up other dog's poo just because its on a path and someone might step in it. It is so unfortunate that what the minority of dog owners choose to do affects the rest of us and gives all dog owners a bad reputation... and the amount of times I have been shouted at when I gently remonstrate with someone..
