Hens - poultry shield and lime? what do they do?

Hello,
Am about to do a big clean of hen house and run area for the first time.
For the house I've bought some poultry shield on advice from lady in shop. Is this all I need along with water to clean the inside of the house? The bottle says to spray it everywhere especially any crevices. (The hen house is wooden, I can remove perch and floor). The shop lady seemed to think general disinfectant would not be needed aswell.
For the soil in the enclosed run area (about 12ft X 12ft) I am thinking about digging in some lime - but not sure exactly how this disinfects the soil? Alternatively I've read about StalosanF for sprinkling in house and on soil? Any opinions on either of those would be appreciated.
During the winter the hens will have a lot of time to free range around the garden - but during the summer months we keep them in the enclosed area a lot as they have to share the garden with vegetables and bare-footed children. So I guess that the soil will need some sort of treatment to stop parasites etc.
Thanks, Jo
