What do you clean your polythene with ?

I am cleaning my tunnel today as it's relatively empty for a few days.
Back in the summer I cleaned what parts of the cover I could get to with a solution of Lidls all purpose cleaner and water but I noticed today that the parts that I did manage to clean have loads more algae than those parts that never got washed. :scratch:
I know you can get special polythene cleaner, but I'm sure there's none round here and it's probably an arm & a leg price, so was wondering what others do.

I have some Ecover cleaner, so I might give that a try on the bays I have still to do, if nobody has a better suggestion.

Odsox, the organic gardening catalogue do a BIOTAL ALGAE & MOULD CLEANER 1 litre for £8.25 which only does 20sqm. so that's not cheap. There is also Citrox, another 'safe' cleaner, for around £6.

But I wonder would a mixture of a detergent and vinegar do the trick?

I should be doing mine before the end of the month, when the water on our plots gets turned off, and will try the later.

Odsox,

I use citrox, and found this place to get it from, ready for our move, hope it helps;

Thanks for that, looks like Citrox might be useful then.
Trouble is, I rather wanted to get it done this week as I have lots of plants and seeds that need to go in, so I might try Ecover as I already have some.
I will order up some Citrox though for future use.

I don't clean the polythene at all - no signs of any algae. Chances are it'll need replacing before it gets dirty :lol:
