Sorry if this topic has popped up before, but has anyone any experience of this generator? Is it just a hoax? I found it on this site www.magniwork.com

Sorry Karen - it's complete and utter bulls**t.

You cannot, unless we change the laws of the universe, get more energy out of a system than you put into it. Nor is there any such thing as a perpetual motion machine (for much the same reason). The laws of entropy are the same throughout the universe, I'm afraid. The laws of quacks attempting to hoodwink gullible people also seem to be pretty universal.

Take careful note - they want to see your money BEFORE they tell you how it's done. I'd stay well clear if I were you.

Yeah I was thinking along the same lines, that perpetual motion can not exist. But I can't understand why these people who are conning people out of money are not done for fraud?

On a similar subject,I have a friend who is running his van on hydrogen by extracting from water and reckons he will save 10-20% on fuel.I can't see how this will work as the power for the electrolysis comes directly from the alternator and hence the burning fuel to produce it.

They're not done for fraud because of very clever wording. Most people would think they're buying something to save power when, in fact, they're buying the design for a rotating machine which does exactly what they say it will - it goes round and round. And it will continue to go round and round for a very long time, giving "almost" a perpetual motion machine. It probably won't stop until the bearing wears out. As far as that goes, they're telling the truth (it's a bit of physics which has been known about for an awfully long time). What they don't tell you is that the energy in that rotation is very small indeed and would do no useful work in the real world - the slightest load on the "generator" would stop it dead. Of course, I'm talking about conventional current and power (ie electrical). THEY introduce the concept of "magnetic current" and postulate that it may be possible to construct machines which would run on this. They don't say you CAN, they just mention it as a possibility. Flying pigs are, however improbable, a possibility.

What it boils down to, in my opinion, is one of two further possibilities - the people who sell these designs are either complete shysters or they're complete fruitcakes. Take your pick.

(Anyone ever seen those solar windmills - four metal plates, silvered on one side and black on the other, connected to a pivot and sealed inside an evacuated glass tube? They go round and round quite fast as long as there's sunlight. If the tube wasn't evacuated, if it had the tiniest bit of air in there, the resistance would be enough to prevent the rotation ever starting).

If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If it sounds too good to be true and they want money for it, RUN!!
