You will have to excuse me for this post but I am relatively new to forraging!

I have been collecting so far over the last few months:

Damsons
Cherries
Sloes
Blackberries
Eledrberries
Apples
Pears

A veritable trove of Herbs and leaves for incense and tinctures.

What can I expect to find over the winter months?

Just wanted to add that I ALWAYS follow the golden rules, so please dont think Im Harvesting more than my share,

Thanks Fellow Forragers

We picked up a "Little Gem" version of Richard Mabey's "Food For Free" it lists month by month what should be available and where to find it and what it looks like and which bits to eat and how to prepare and eat them ...brill

Anyway, there's too many really to list but there are foragings to be had all year round, although Jan and Feb look to be a bit lean, thoroughly recomend it and it is pocket size too
Best wishes

I'm running late this year with all my winter foods, think I've missed all the blackberries and all the chestnut trees seem to have been raided by squirrels and crows!

Not sure which part of the world you live Bandit. We're looking out for the next crop of fungi which should follow this weeks rain, wood blewits in particular can survive frost and on occasional years have been available up until Christmas. With the onset of cooler weather and darker mornings etc, roadkill is more likely to be refrigerator fresh.

Can I tag on hear a quick question about puffballs.

Would they grow in a veg patch - my neighbours garden is currently sporting three (unfortunately old-looking) puffball type things - in the middle of his brussels. :dontknow:

Don't know about that, I've only ever found them growing in grass (usually well manured pasture). Not noticed any untoward disturbance of local vegitation caused by the puffball mycelium so I guess there's no harm in having a go at cultivation. Who knows, maybe you've struck on something new.
