wild food friends, I need your advice! 2 sheds brought these back with him from a dog walk. They are some sort of wild crab apple but he's obviously picked them too soon as the seeds are still white (see photo). Any idea what variety it is, if it's an ornamental crab are the fruits still edible and is there anything I can do with these unripe fruits, seems a shame to bin them? They are about the size of a Brussels sprout

IMO ornamental just means not quite as flavoursome as bred for food types, (there's a tree over hanging a boundary round the corner with tiny ornamental plums but they taste fine to me!)
Crabbers can be made into jelly or lovely sparkling wine, the last lot I made started white and turned a beautiful pink rose color...very tasty too
