Nothing as exotic as moose I'm afraid. Pheasant, pidgeon and bunny.

Venison, car ahead of us hit a deer and didn't even stop to check it was dead. It was ..... delicious.

The Red Lion, a bikers pub nearby, often has pheasant and rabbit going free to a hungry home, the label details the make of bike that brought it down.

Love and Peace
Jim

   Yeah, I took a bit of time to work that one out...

Not a lot of vegetarian roadkill around.

To be honest, be careful with roadkill... My friend once brought home a perfectly good pheasant on the grill of her car - he'd got stuck there, while she was trying to avoid him... But she'd still wouldn't eat it, as it was sowing time for the farms. Being a farmer herself, she knows what chemicals the seed barley etc gets treated with. And that's what pheasants stuff themselves with, when they get a chance.

Don't think it was road kill - but I've eated rook - it was yummy! I also went to a restaurant recently and they served pigeon - so I ate it in revenge for the great fat wood pigeon that sits on the roof opposite swpluttering like a dirty old man and waking me up at stupid o'clock on a sunday morning!

Roe Deer. Found it on the side of the road. 10lbs of venison later...

Best steak i have ever tasted.

And Milim, if the wood pidgeon sits outside your window every sunday, get an airrifle this saturday, and surprise him the following day.

Have feasted on wood pigeon, pheasant, rabbit, hare and the occasional mallard. In all cases I check out the heart and liver and if not damaged they make tasty assides. Re Ina, roadkill for vegetarians, I tend to think of it as roadspill. Usually it's potatoes, onions or carrots tumbled from slightly overloaded farm trailers.

That's brilliant - yes, I have come across that, too!

Just wish somebody would spill some of the more expensive stuff - like cheese and eggs...

If you're from the Carlton I'm thinking of, I know a few of those drivers - and they do it intentionally. I've been given the nod in the pub a few times - "There'll be a few potatoes/carrots on the outside of that bend in the morning". Waste not, want not.

Ah, Road Spill - I like that. Once walked down a lane and found a trail of potatoes that lead eventually through a gate in to a farm yard. Would a have collected them but we were just starting a 10 mile hike and didn't fancy carrying a ton of potatoes with me.

Don't try fox, the green fat on it doesn't taste good and hedgehog is too fiddley.
