I'm not sure that dogs qualify as livestock

but I didn't know where else to ask this.
What do you do with your doggie do?? Is there a way to make a doggie loo like the one in the link without it costing a fortune??
Is the stuff that is put into the dog loo eco friendly? or is there a better way.
If you feed your dog a veggie diet can you dispose of the poo on the compost?
questions questions questions....

I'd like to know what that "bio activator" is that they use...
Maybe you can train your dog to use the human toilet? I've heard of cats doing it; they raised the cat tray slowly to loo seat level, and then eventually removed the tray. Don't think the cat learned to flush, though.
And I wouldn't feed a dog with an entirely veggie diet - it's just not natural, they are supposed to be carnivores.

I agree with you Ina, the Bio-Activator is a little curious, I don't like it when things are dumbed down like that. I have heard of dogs being trained to use the toilet and flushing afterwards - this may be an urban myth though.
I'm sure I might open a can of worms here but I don't see what's wrong with feeding a dog a veggie diet as long as it's balanced. The 80's singer Howard Jones famously had a vegetarian dog and there are a few companies around that supply veggie dog-food [

I don't think dogs are obligatory carnivores, like cats are (although a friend had vegetarian cats and skinny and unhappy they were!) so a veggie dog would be OK. The problem with composting their doodoo is that they need to be regularly wormed and the worm medication kills off the compost worms too!

That's quite odd Shirlz, me and Andy met Howard Jones a couple of months ago as he was leaving a gig in Bath-must have been the same tour. I'm not sure how he did it but Andy managed to mention self-sufficientish to him. I think he's a little obsessed at times.

We'll know we've made it when that word gets into the dictionary!!!
As to the vegetarian dogs - I suppose you can feed them a balanced diet just with specially formulated vegetarian dog food. However, I doubt they'd ever be voluntary vegetarians - although they would probably eat more plant matter than meat in times of lack of suitable prey, or in old age, when they are too weak to go hunting.
