I am now very excited as we are going to order our polytunnel soon!

We are (hopefully) going to visit the First Tunnels site/allotment tomorrow to get a feel for how big the one we want actually is, as I'm not much good at visualising size, and OH wants to see what he's got to do in terms of putting it together.

We're hopefully going to have it delivered before Easter, then use our Easter break to put it up - meaning that I can decant all my seedlings etc to the tunnel and my kitchen won't be full of seed trays anymore!

I'm so excited, and everyone at work thinks I'm slightly mental (so what's new there!)

Ohhhh it is sooooooo exciting : - we have just finished putting ours up (from first tunnels) and we are able to start setting out the beds and getting things planted... looks terribly empty just now though.

Poly tunnel space is like wardrobe space...you never have enough!

It'll soon fill up & then you'll look back & wonder how you ever gardened without one!

I spend more time in mine than I do the house

I agree with MuddyWitch. Not about the amount of time I spend there, since it's on my allotment. But PTs are fabulous. I can't imagine doing without anymore after just 2 growing seasons.

So I'm on the brink of making my polytunnel order - and Andy went into great detail yesterday about making one!
(Does he not think he has ENOUGH projects???)

So... he's going to make 2 'bus shelters' over 2 raised beds - a door at one end & will cover it all in thick polythene - replacing the polythene over time section by section with perspex..... well, that's the plan anyway - we shall see....

We have two tunnels both 30 foot long. Also used to have a glasshouse, but bartered that for other stuff. I used to do the markets and sell stuff from home, but now just growing for ourselves. It's a lot easier. GILL

The tunnel has been ordered!

We're hopefully collecting it next week (as they are so busy, delivery would be 3 to 4 weeks away!!)

We've got a 10ft by 30ft to start with, but we're lucky in that we could fit another 3 or 4 of them in the garden if we needed to. Will see how we get on with one!

Now I just need to sort a site plan out for OH, so he knows what I want and where I want it

Well, I got all excited after reading these posts that I went out and constructed a 3X5 foot poly "something" to keep my little peat pots going while we will be off visiting our sons' family for a week. Thanks for the brilliant idea! I was afraid I was going to lose weeks of patient waiting for the little seeds to get to be something I could set out in the beds! Hurray! And Thanks!!

I was trying to think of a way to collect water off my polytunnel. Any Ideas?

I did think of making a contraption with a wood frame, guttering and gaffa tape, but there must be a better way!

The only thing we are not allowed to do on our allotments site is have a poly tunnel. pbf.

I think that there is gutters for for polytunnels on the market, but not sure where I saw it.

I can't find them for sale anywhere else but I am sure you must be able to get one cheaper.... or fashion one out of wide tape and a strip of plastic perhaps.

I've bookmarked that page. I think ordinary guttering may be a bit heavy, so from the pic it looks ideal
