I am just about to go and rustle up some shower gel (using dr bronners liquid soap) can anyone suggest a nice blend of oils I might want to use in it?

I attempted a floral massage oil for my feet (lavender patchouli and jojoba), but the jojoba has but one effect    so I won't be putting that in.

I like lavender but can be a bit samey on it's own....

I have loads of EOs just need some inspiration.

Please enlighten me....jojoba is not an essential oil so I can't see that it would have any profound psychological or physical effect.

The above all sounds good. Shower gels tend to be more invigorating than relaxing, so citrus oils would be a must in my book, generally speaking they combine well with spice or wood oils. If you wanted to make something more relaxing, then I would go floral with wood.

Only caveat i would add here is that in excess, in some people citrus oils cause a heliotoxic reaction - ie is you have them on your skin in concentration and then get sunlight on them you may react with blistering or irritation.
I don't imagine the amount in the shower gel (a few drops) would cause a problem, but just be careful not to spill on your self when working with them, if you do then DON'T rub into your skin (as i have the tenancy to do) wash them off with soap instead.

Don't forget that showergel is something that gets washed off, so i wouldn't worry too much about photosensitivity.

I think it might be the general mix then (lavender, patchouli and jojoba.... I think), it stirs the loins, it was not intended and a strange reaction to rubbing one scabby, chilblain-ridden feet.

That's the patchouli then. It's a very profound oil, think of it's heavy earthy sensual scent. I find it usually works to put me to sleep though!!!!

Sorry Clara, you must be right.... my mistake.

I really ought to get a good aromatherapy book, I have had various ones out of the library and I have a few thick leaflets lying around and I try to copy the recipes into a notepad.... but I really should get myself a definitive manual.

Thanks for the ideas everyone

I must add that I made the shower gel (left it unscented for now) and it is VERY runny, and VERY effective.
