Productive day

I called round to a local scaffolding company today and asked them had they any old scaffolding boards they weren't using any more. I explained to the guy I needed a few to make raised vegetable beds and he said work away and take as many as you like. On the way back I stopped at a farmhouse because I could see they had some chickens (i'm getting my first chickens in a few weeks). While I was stopped the owner came out and after I apologised for being nosey we got to chatting about growing veg, keeping chickens etc, and he mentioned he keeps horses and told me I was welcome to a trailer load of horse manure for my veg beds any time I liked. I just have to bring a trailer and he'll load it for me too. A very nice guy and it's great to meet like minded people. All in all I'd say a very productive day.

What a fab day you had!It doesn't happen often but I had one a couple of weeks ago.I sold 3 jars of jam and 2 dozen eggs outside the house and found out I got a letter printed in a magazine earning me £60 and Hubby arrived home with a van full of wood for the burner after a tidy up at work(pallets/offcuts,he's a builder)they lasted us a few days through the cold snap.
Good luck with your veg and chickens it's a great way to live....
