Made said wine but wizzed berries in mixer rather than mashing.
After fermentation and racking into vessels for 2ndary fermentation noticed a yellow/green waxy residue round the top of the pot they were in, now here's the fun bit:
- not water soluable, hot or cold
- doesnt come off with soap/detergent
-consistency of molases once you scrape some off; make strings when rubbed on fingers then fingers pulled slowly apart, but is NOT sticky - more waxy.
- has no discernable taste.

Something from the seeds I assume, and i dont think its nasty since i dont seem sick having tried to taste it.

What is it? any ideas? anyone come across this before?

No idea Jed. Sounds weird and I hope it is safe.

Maybe you should look into practical uses for it - polish?

I think it's fairly common with elderberry wine - not sure what causes it though. Try vegetable oil to clean it off your pots and utensils once finished.
