T3sc0 are taking over the highlands

RANT ALERT
T3sc0 have just been given the go ahead, by the Highland Council, to build a
fourth store in Inverness!
It has a population of just 40+thousand and outliers like us go there for major shops - so add another 2-3000.
I'm so angry I could cry - I'm not sure why they need another supermarket (there's also a M0rr1s0ns) but if they felt another one is needed why not let someone else in.
They also have a virtual monopoly in Wick, Ullapool and Thurso (although they have a small co-op).
I feel like I need to do something but haven't a clue what to do.

I think we're owned by A$da here. There's one big T£sco, one $ainsburps, one Morri$on$, and three A$da. That's not including all the little convenience stores that were taken over by T£sco and $ainsburps though.
Rant away, Green Aura.

Just been checking my credit card online and I noticed that the A$da that I go to, which is on a street called Hessle Road is listed on my card statement as A$da Store Hassle.

Thought that might cheer you up a little

Awful Green Aura - but until folks put sense over convenience - these giants will continue to grow. Just think of how its being sold - cheap, convenient, and new jobs for the Highlands!

Hopefully they'll give the jobs to all the small business owners and employees that will be on the dole soon when they've put them out of business! The town centre of Wick has become more and more like a ghost town since Te$co opened there.

That's what happened here, GA. Now, when I'm feeling proud of myself for not going in the supermarket for a couple of weeks, I also feel guilty. If everyone did the same then some people in the supermarkets might lose their jobs

There is a chapter on saturation in Naomi Klein's No Logo that you should read if you're puzzling as to why so many supermarkets are allowed when the population could be served by fewer. Basically, they continue opening shops until all the competition is dead, then close shops to optimise returns.
