I was looking at these fans for sitting on the stove, circulating heat, they seem to get pretty good reviews on forums but at £130, I thought it is a tad pricey... has anyone got a cheaper, homemade, simpler idea?

I had a look at your link and watched the video - there were others on the same page that referred to a stirling engine, which looked very interesting. Googling "stirling engine plans" might help you. It seems you can make these things with everyday objects, like drinks cans, and would just need to attach fan blades somehow.

I'm ebaying fan blades as we speak to have a go.

I got mine on fluesystems.com for about 40 quid cheaper than the price you quoted.

It certainly spins but it doesn't seem to shift the amount of air around that I would have hoped for. I'm slightly disappointed however I hear the 3 fan/blade version is better.
