We are having our old French doors replaced. They are 30 years old and have a tiny airgap between the glass. We will have 6 pairs of doors each having two pairs of sealed units 44 x 88 cm. Has anyone tried using these in a greenhouse or leanto. If so what did you use as a frame? All suggestions gratefully received

I haven't personally but a friend of mine had a great lean-to type greenhouse made out of something similar (although only single glazed). I think it would be fantastic as a greenhouse but the units will probably be very heavy so you'd have to use a really strong frame.
What a great opportunity to reuse the glass as I gather it can't be recycled.

if the doors are coming out in thier frames you could probably srew/bolt frames together.
but if your window fitter is anything like the ones ive seen the hassle will be getting the frames out undamaged.

Our glass house is made of old windows, in their frames, just bolted/screwed together. We're into our second season with it, and it gives us about 5 extra weeks growing time for our tomatoes. It doesn't look flash, but it does the job!
We set the wood on gravel-filled trenches just slightly wider than the frame so the wood wouldn't ever be sitting on wet ground.
Cheers

if you had the time and patience, score round the edge of the double glazing, then split them, being carefull not to break the glass, thus giving you twice the glass
