I know this might sound a really stupid question, but I was looking at my nasturtiums which are getting passed their best, and they have like a little green pod on them. Some have fallen off and are drying out. Are these the seeds that I can collect and dry out and plant next year?

Or you can preserve them in brine or vinegar and use them as caper substitutes.

If possible dry them on a window sill in the light - indoors. This is pretty much how they would dry naturally. Then store them cool and dry.
I collect fallen seeds from the council garden - cos they have some lovely variegated leaves - and they grow very well each year.
Happy planting!

thanks for that! My job for the morning is to go out and collect them all. I should have enough to dry for next year and enough to use as caper substitutes.
I am loving this self sufficientish stuff!!
