Getting to know you

Post: # 122388Post Annpan »

We have had loads of new members since the wonderful 'ish Bible came out and it is always nice for us all to get a better mental image of each other... especially since many of us spend a lot of time in 'ish land.

So here goes just for fun....

What is your favourite colour?

Where did you go on your last holiday?

What is your favourite item of clothing?

When did you last dance?

Who was the last person you kissed?

What would be your desert island disc? (only one song... when the waves sweep everything else into the ocean)

Sardines.... yes or no?

What is your favourite colour? Anything bright, no real preferences but nothing dull!

Where did you go on your last holiday? We rented a lovely little cottage for a month on the south coast of Spain last January. Definitely off the beaten track even though we had sea views etc. Fresh caught sardines in the bars, certainly no other English anywhere in sight, AND we were able to take our lovely cat with us.

What is your favourite item of clothing? My ancient denim jeans. After two years of being to fat to get into them and having managed to lose enough weight to slip into them easily.

When did you last dance? Probably last time my husband and I had too many margeritas. Can' remember!

Who was the last person you kissed? Defintely my OH, bless him!

What would be your desert island disc? Earl Kluge, so laid back as to be almost horizontal

Sardines.... yes or no? Yuk!
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

What is your favourite colour?

For clothes and inside the house - Blue. For flowers in the garden - the hottest brightest Pink imaginable!

Where did you go on your last holiday?

Harumph, England to see family, but I don't count that as a real holiday. :( The last time I actually went on a real holiday with my husband, which had nothing whatsoever to do with seeing ageing parents, was in 2000 to Greece. Drove there and had 3 wonderful weeks driving around the country.

What is your favourite item of clothing?

My wellies!

When did you last dance?

I don't dance but about 3 years ago I did some silly Breton dancing at our annual hamlet do. Silly dancing I don't mind!

Who was the last person you kissed?

It's always my OH but apart from him, a French girlfriend on Saturday

What would be your desert island disc? (only one song... when the waves sweep everything else into the ocean)

Sexual Healing - Marvin Gaye

Sardines.... yes or no?

Yes, tinned or fresh!

So here goes just for fun....

What is your favourite colour? - navy blue

Where did you go on your last holiday? - Germany - but I don't really consider "going home" a holiday. Otherwise it's Shetland, again and again...

What is your favourite item of clothing? - Jeans and woolly jumper

When did you last dance? - Argh! About 10 years ago, when I worked at a hotel and "had to" join in the fun...

Who was the last person you kissed? - Ooops. A bloke I used to know a few years back.

What would be your desert island disc? (only one song... when the waves sweep everything else into the ocean) - Although I like music, I'd rather be without than with just one song!

Sardines.... yes or no? - NO!!!

OOPS! how did I manage to forget to do my own answers

What is your favourite colour? I think it is teal at the moment, but I haven't decided exactly what colour teal is, but it has a nice sound to it... It used to be red, then green for a while, I guess it shows that I am getting older when my favourite colour becomes teal :?

Where did you go on your last holiday?
Goodness, I went to visit the lovely Aberdeenshire ishers (Stoney, Shirley, Ina, Kimmie, Cassiepod) in April but that was more of a tour than a holiday... We did the west highland way 3 years ago... but that wasn't really a holiday either...Ummm.... I have never just been 'on holiday' it is always more than just relaxing and being a tourist.

What is your favourite item of clothing?
I am not sure, I quite like big hair bands at the moment, I have a nice black vest top which I bought last week (it has been a long time since I had new clothes) it is very nice.

When did you last dance? I the kitchen about an hour ago to a girl group reggae song from the 80s (I forget the name now) It was on the radio (Radcliffe and Maconie, BBC radio 2)

Who was the last person you kissed?
My daughter, (She'll be 2 next Thursday) before her daddy took her off for bath, bottle, bed routine.

What would be your desert island disc? (only one song... when the waves sweep everything else into the ocean)
Oh Darling by The Beatles, from the Abbey Road Album... I don't know what it is about that song, it isn't particularly good, but I could listen to it over and over. I have it on vinyl and the sound of the needle on the record is part of my love of it.

Sardines.... yes or no? NO, John is banned from eating them in the house, vile things....euch

Why does everyone hate sardines so much?   Do you also hate mackerel which is similar in flavour but stronger and more bitter IMO? (personally I don't eat mackerel unless it has been BBQ'd so much that the skin is really crispy!)

What is your favourite colour? Purple.

Where did you go on your last holiday? I visited a friend in Paris a few weeks ago, but it was more of a 'visit' than a 'holiday'. The last proper holiday was Dartmoor in March.

What is your favourite item of clothing? Right now, my new bras as I've just bought some that actually fit and I feel fabulous in them! Otherwise, I have a pink dress that I'm very fond of.

When did you last dance? My friend's wedding.

Who was the last person you kissed? My boyfriend.

What would be your desert island disc? (only one song... when the waves sweep everything else into the ocean) Victoria's Ave Maria for two choirs.

Sardines.... yes or no? No, but it's more of a general prejudice against fish than a particular prejudice against sardines. Though we have some in our fridge and I might be called upon to try them at some point.
They're not weeds - that's a habitat for wildlife, don't you know?

Well I think it's partly a Psychological thing for me, when I was very young and having school dinners (can't have been more than 6 or 7) they served Sardines and Salad... I didn't like the taste of the Sardines and they forced me to eat them. They actually made me stay there until I'd eaten everything... still remember it today that's how much it effected me!

So having not liked fish in the first place that probably enforced it and the only fish I'd ever eat after that was Fish Fingers and the likes... battered cod from the chip shop was ok too and it's still that way today although I have to pick through it minutely because I really hate fish bones.

Tried to convince myself I liked fish not too long ago and bought some Salmon and some Mackarel... couldn't eat the Mackarel after one taste and the Salmon I can force myself to eat but ended up shaking by the end so no fish for me :pale:
