Hello From Argyll
Just a wee note to say hello. this is my first year growing my own veg and hopefully will be growing more fruit next year too.
Harvested Cauliflower a couple of weeks ago and it was soooooo tasty I couldnt believe it.
Got a wee problem in that I didnt realise potatoes went green if I didnt shore them up. I have covered these up will they go back to normal ?
I plan to build a few raised beds this winter for next year.
I dont know much about gardening but have had really good success so far this year.
Looking forward to getting to know you
Michael

Hi potatohead,
Welcome! I never earth up my potatoes and only hav the occasional green one, so perhaps you needn't worry?
Anyhow, good luck with your veg. Great fun, isn't it.

Hi

You're meant to earth up potatoes in order to prevent them going green as they are said to be poisonous when they are green. Earthing up also prevents the plants flopping over when they get big. Many people, however, are fed up of earthing up and are just planting their seed potatoes deeper instead. Apparently it works, so I'll be trying that next year.
