Blackberries, chiggers and seed ticks

I went blackberry picking today and I got as many chiggers and seed ticks as Blackberries. I had to take a beach bath, then shower off. Boy, I hate those things. I can barely see the seed ticks they are so minute. I guess I'll be glad I have them this winter, blackberries, that is. Right now, i'm kind of miserable.
Oh well, gotta go scratch an itch.

May do some blackberry picking myself next weekend. They make great jam.
I know ticks, but what are chiggers and seed ticks?
TIA

Oh we have chiggers

They are known in the UK as harvest mites or in France as Aoutats.
I have to be covered in Jungle Formula insect repellant from July until October, and I have to buy this stuff in the UK as nothing sold in France works!

They are those little critters that like to get into dark and moist places on your body and bite you. You can hardly see them. I use a splash of bleach in my bath water to kill them, then I re soap and rinse off in the shower.
The hint is to not scratch an itch for at least 24 hours and they will not leave a permanent red bump on you. At least, that's what I have discovered.
Just be happy that you don't have any where you live.
