Mushrooms in my compost

So I used some compost (not shop bought, made by my father in law the good old fashioned way) in some pots (for aubergines), now in my little greenhouse, and humidity and heat helping, I have quite a few little mushrooms growing in the pots since yesterday. They are smaller than 1cm so it's hard to judge what type they are or to take a picture.

What do you reckon I should do? Do you think they are a pest or a blessing?

I think without photos, people might not be able to identify them with total confidence. Could you show them to your father-in-law? He might recognize them as being babies of some he composted.

If they really are mushrooms you will know by now as they would have matured into recognisable breakfast items.

My guess is they are those small fragile toadstools that grow naturally in compost from compost bins. You get a flush of 'stools then they disappear. They don't do any harm that I've noticed.

Oh ok as long as they are not harmful... The sun of the past days seem to have destroy most of them...

Thanks!

I get these all the time, in fact I had some shaggy ink caps growing in my compost bin a while back. Nothing to worry about, some mushrooms will destroy trees but I doubt yours will.

I have mushrooms all over my garden... I don't know if they are edible (mushrooms are not my thing) With the weather we have been having recently they are just popping up everywhere. (anyone want to come and try them, you are most welcome)

It isn't a specific problem with my compost though - I think the spores are air borne, so they find a warm, dark, moist area and set up home.

If we ever do get any sunshine that will kill them off for sure....

We have mushrooms growing in the lawn in the spot that we cut down a rather oversized conifer. I think its from the rotting roots in the ground deep down.
