hi i have green fly on my chilli plant , what shall i do???????????

Spray it with water with washing up liquid in it, or water that has has a few rhubarb leaves steeping in it overnight.

if it is just one indoor plant, rinse it under the tap and gentle remove the fly

I have the same problem with green fly on my lettuce’s, they are growing in a trough style planter
(If that makes any difference)
I have tried picking the little pests of by hand but there are just too many of them. They are on the compost/soil as well which makes picking them of difficult.
I don’t want to use washing up liquid on something I plan to eat and I have no access to rhubarb leaves as yet (I am growing some but the plant is a bit of a baby at the moment). I have put every ladybug I have found to task
Any other suggestions to clear this infestation up would be most welcome

I'm not too worried about using washing up liquid... after all we use in on our dishes and eat off them - once it's done the job and got rid of the greenfly you could always rinse it off again.

I've got heaps of aphids on my chili plants too and will be using the liquid - someone said that Ecover liquid doesn't work though, not sure whether that's the case or not.

I did think about what you said and if I could keep the soapy liquid on the lettuce leaves that would be fine as any residue would be rinsed of before eating them What I am concerned about is the excess going in to the soil especially as its in a closed container rather than open ground.
