Blueberry plant

Hi Mew again

My Dad has a blueberry plant currently in a large pot.

When I was up there over the weekend I noticed alot of the leaves had gone a mottled brown. I asked him what had happened and he said he sprayed some washing up liquid (ecover) and water onto them to help with the aphids and it appears to have burnt them.

Im not convinced thats it. Just wondered if anyone else has ever come across something similar.

My Dad's from a generation where he wants to use all the chemicals he can lay his hands on but because he's planting stuff where my veg are I wont let him....!

Thanks

MEW

Hmmm...I know blueberries prefer rainwater to tapwater so maybe thats the problem?

I know ecover is supposed to by eco-friendly but I assume it is still slightly caustic????? to achieve any results. If it is then that might well have caused burning as I believe blueberries like acid soil.

It may well be worth mulching the plant with some ericaceous soil to help it to recover.

If he doused the plant with water in the middle of the day then it is also likely that the sun scorched the leaves. I only feed my blueberry plants rainwater and they're both doing fine in pots.
