end of jan was 5 gallons of tom claxton ale,
last week as 5 gallons of toms lager,
im poping to the beer shop tomorrow but debating if it should be 5 gallons of stout or something else.
i am considering, for later in the year, a random idea of a Sloe and blackberry champagne. its mental i know but what the hell.

Gosh, that reminds me....MANY, MANY years ago I did a wine using parsnips and (orange)??? It's name was Westcott Schnapps I think. It had a HELLUVA punch.
Anyone got any recollections or ideas as to a recipe??
I've a load of softening parsnips just crying out to be used!!
Barry.
I'm using the basic recipe from John Seymour's Complete Guide, can give you the recipe if you like?

That would be brilliant.
I made the Westcott Schnapps about 30 years ago when I first got into brewing..
BUT, family & work meant it had to take a back seat.
Now that I'm ever closer to retirement age (retire, HAH!!) I'm getting back into it.
Barry.

I have 11 litres of traditional mead in the FV at the moment. I'll probably be racking it into a carboy in about a week, to clear. Then I'll probably get a wheatbeer on the go ready for the summer.
Lots of good unprocessed honey available here directly from the beekeepers. The prices aren't too bad either, I pay about £1.40 for a pound of unprocessed honey. It'll work out about about 60p for a 500ml bottle by the time I've finished.

I've succumbed. I don't know why, particularly, but I'm having another go at banana wine - every other attempt has been very successful if drinking petrol is a measure of success. However, badly-stored supermarket bananas at 5p per kilo tilted the balance. I've used 5 lbs per gallon and substituted a couple of teabags for the banana skins (which only add to the general muckiness).
If I survive, I'll let you know how it went.

i used to make mine from dried bananas and this turned out ok but you need to leave it to mature for at least 6 months before drinking
