When I was into body building my bmi was something like 54 because of the muscle weight but the use of BMI is a basic tool for the basic person. Don't get hung up about these sites, whilst usefull to focus your mind they all have their own calculations to do. I bought a body calculator thingy out of the chemists thast begin with ll and that is very acurate as compaired with the doctors set up. that tells me my resting calories is 2363 where as the site above says I need 3800 just to stay still. the site says I need 2850 to lose weight which is 500 a day more than the lloyds machine and the doctors charts,lol..

I tend to go on the percentage of body fat and so long as that's coming down I'm happy.

SO THEN WHO HAS A WEIGH DAY TOMORROW, FRIDAY????

I weighed my self last night after coming back from an exercise class and seem to have put on a couple of pounds! :( :dontknow: But I don't feel too disappointed, I actually feel a lot better in myself this week, sleeping better, more energy etc. Also I know that I do carry quite a lot of muscle - built up from the building site - so my BMI, according to the web site, may well be all to pot because of that. What was interesting tho, was that I input my food and exercise and it came back that I could still have had another 400 or so calories - although I realy didn't feel like I needed them. I think that perhaps my best use of the site is as a record of what I've eaten.

Milims don't weigh yourself after the class as the body is all over the place and needs time to settle down. Best time is when you get up in the morning :D (after the loo and before any meals)

Al - great for a weigh day :D (I just done mine this morning.. 17st 5lb - going down slowly :cooldude:   )

Absolutly concure with that one Eco - mick. After any exercise the body is rapidly trying to find it's levels again and also repairing muscles, converting food to fuel for the repairs, lack of water or fluid or indeed too much fluid if you drink a lot during exercise. When I was at SW or WW I ate a slice of toast on the morning, and drank a pint of water all day. Nothing else and even went in the car to avoid any extra weight from walking etc. One night I even shaved my head to save a few ounces [ and no i still put on]

I was 17st 8lbs on the 3/1/11, that jumped up to 17st 10lbs on the start of this thread.. weighed in this moring and its sitting on 17st 5lbs - little numbers tick away and makes all the difference on the graph seeing a downwards drop, am pleased to be honest as I am not depriving myself of the little treats (Ice cream or an Organic Scone with clotted cream).. its shear hard work in the garden and not feeling hungry all of the time that is doing it.

Target - 13st - another 4st and 5lbs (61lbs) to go.. 5lbs gone from the start weight (66lbs) - 9% loss so far :pirate:

Note I did have the winter bug over xmas (the one where you lose your contents of the body lol - so I am thinking my tum has strunk over this time  )

Well done you.

You are about a stone lower than me to start and finish.

My trouble has been I have exercised then I feel really hungry, it will be ok when I finish the Christmas cake!

Innocent smoothies seem to be half price at the mo, they are really nice at that price.

No I won't use a smiley because I've decided to turn into Boboff, as he's turned all nice all of a sudden. Grumble grumble.

lol about the xmas cake - I tried eating out the non organic stuff in the cupboards.. didn't work (so gave it away)

I am thinking about the smoothies front at the moment - its just typical as I sold the blender last year at bootsale - oh well still got the small one in the cupboard in the kitchen that may do the job. Can anyone recommand a trial recipe for the smootie front.. I do like Bananna's (sp) but can't stand them when they go that funny black/brown skin colour {and taste puts me off}

I often have banana, oatmeal and honey smoothies. Just bung a banana, a dollop of honey, a shake of fine oatmeal and some skimmed milk into a blender and blitz. Great for a quick breakfast that fills you up and stays there and you can use up the browish bananas as the flavours are all kinda mushed in together so you don't notice

I've just written this weeks menu and wondered what you were all planning to eat for main meals. The rest of the family aren't trying to loose weight so I have to make stuff that we all will enjoy.
Monday - Chicken Stir Fry - lots of veg and lean meat
Tuesday - Broth - boiled a very lean ham to make stock and added lots of veg and broth mix
Wednesday - Chicken curry - lean breast meat, and tomatoes to make the sauce - I did use oil to fry the chicken & onion - but I bought a rape seed oil spray so have managed to cut it right down and there is oil in the curry paste  I'll have more brown rice than sauce!
Thursday - Ham and salad (ham boiled earlier in he week -Sainsbugs be good range or something like that)
Friday - Chicken goujons -home made - with either salad or veg - the others can have potato wedges I think I'll stick to steamed new pots.

So what are you all planning - I could do with some inspiration for next week!
