Tracey: I live near Stansted Airport

3. I want to be a proud owner of an earthship one day, and i went to the garage the other day and the bloke told me that his shed holds 200 tyres at a time...and i can have them all if i want! Just got to find somewhere to store the other 6800 now...and the field to build in...

Might have to take 10 off him next week for potatoes though :D

Yuppers, I always suspected we were all technically mad and this thread confirms it. This has officially made my day.

Mine seem a bit tame after the multiple piercings and digestive biscuit episode, but never mind.

1. I'm scared of thunder and lightening

2. I collect papier mache boxes, but only second-hand ones with cream backgounds (so pretty)

3.I shout at my computer and television. A lot. An awful lot............

I've recently been volunteering on a couple of eco-building projects that had the Brighton Earthship crew supervising rammed earth tyre construction. It's an interesting concept, but involves an extraordinary amount of hard physical labour to get a tyre rammed solid with earth; definitely a young person's building technique. I've really been put off it as a way of building.

Also, I'm not entirely sure that I'd want to live in a house made of horrible, smelly, dirty tyres. Strawbale building remains my preference.

So it's not some kind of spaceship? An earthship is just a building made of tyres. Oh!

3 things that we did not know about you

1. My Hair has its own alternative lifestyle and is dropping out.
2. I nearly drowned in a sewer excavation at the age of 3
3. I was imprisoned on the Isle of Man for 7 years

* Prompted by Manxminx, and her fear of the longtails or Ring-ies

We had one in the kitchen last year that lived next to the warm fridge compressor where it was building a nest. I think our cat brought it in and it escaped - Thanks Monty! The wife thought it was a mouse.

It then got imprisoned in the bathroom and hid under the washing machine. It died suddenly when a size 11 boot landed heavily on its head.

Three things you don't know about me?

1. I'm not a perfectionist but I still seem to spend a lot of time getting things "just right".

2. In almost twenty years of bass playing, I've only ever broken three strings, and two of those were in trying to tune my bass!

3. I can make my way through texts in Middle English with a fair degree of fluency.

Well, you did ask...

Weeelll

1. I was in a dance troupe called Mrs McClean's Merry Mascots (I was about 5yrs old at the time).

2. As a result of 1. I can still wrap my legs around my neck - although not both at the same time.

3. Possibly as a result of 2. I suffer bad-posture related headaches....
