Re: What brought you here?
Well it was the need to cut back and save money that brought me here. When my son was born I had to give up work, so when I trawled the internet for money saving tips this forum just kept coming up.
I started reading a couple of threads, actually I think I read ALL the old threads, I cant't remember how long it took me but it was hours. By the time I had read through them, I knew some of you very well. I thought it would be very rude of me if I didn't offer myself back to you all.
Now I have, a potager (sounds posher than a couple of raised beds
) rather than a skanky front lawn, I have chickens in my 12 foot back garden, I make jam, chutney, quilts, clothes from LOUD bed sheets and I even converted to things like washable bum wipes. I have embraced the whole self sufficient lifestyle that the book and this forum has offered me, even within the confines of my terraced 1970's London pit.
I love this forum and the frank open debate that you can have here, I hope that never changes.

I joined to respond to a post by someone asking about a tanning product I wanted to try.
They didn't reply but I'd stumbled across the forum on many other occasions and just needed a prompt to sign up :)

Re: What brought you here?
For me it was chickens. Had a vague notion that I would like some, came on here and was given the confidence boost to just go for it. Ditto the pigs and the lambs, the polytunnel, the elderflower wine, paganism, nettle fertilizer, ducks and very shortly (I am about to break)...goats!
It has had a huge impact on my life and I will be eternally grateful to you all
and
(well OK, that was meant to be Dave), John H, all the mods and the lovely ishers, even when oil is but a distant memory and the internet doesn't work anymore

I had lurked for ages, then I was prompted to chat to Red about saag, as in Saag aloo, Indian food.
between us we worked out that we where after spinach and soft greens for our saag aloo.
In fact , it has been ages since I made a saag aloo.

Re: What brought you here?
Google, but I can't remember what for, specifically. Quite a few things, I suspect, while I was daydreaming about starting a new life. I think elderflower wine was in there. I'd learnt a lot from the forum before I finally took the step of joining and introducing myself (and what a lovely welcome I got!) This was quite a big step for me, because I'd never joined a forum before, and was rather nervous about chatting to strangers.
Google still directs me back here quite often.

I think it was probably G00gle that bought me here - probably something to do with John Seymour or slugs or runner beans. Lurked for a while then eventually joined in.

Re: What brought you here?
I don't remember what specific terms I Googled, but it would have been something to do with sustainable lifestyles. It is something that has always interested me, and I figured there must be a community of like-minded people somewhere on the 'Net. Sure enough, there was.
