Anyone you can share with Rohen, to share the cost? That's quite expensive! but I can understand it. Get the place cleared once and for all and then this year you can plant to your heart's content. Good luck!

there are two other allotments this weekend who are doing the rotavator thing but they may run into difficulty with the stony soil so they may share or not as the case may be


It depends In anycase I dont think that having the heavy machinery in is a bad thing as I can also clear untouched land with it ( i have an option on 2 poles next door to mine)

You could offer to turn people's compost heaps with the digger for say £10 a time! I'd be happy to pay you (or the digger driver) for that!!

Well done that man. We took on our 1st plot in march last year and worked our socks of hand digging all the rubbish out. In October with it 95% complete and the potatoes in store (that would last till mid Jan) we decided on plot 2 so we have started again and with about 3-4 weeks to go before its needed were about 25% clear.

After all the hard work I can appreciate the effort you have made and take my hat of to you.

Well yes in fact Im going to erect my greehouse today and Im excited about that.

Have bought lots of books on self sufficiency recently too

Am going to plant lots of potatoes as my crop last year was pretty disappointing but am really excited about having the greenhouse as that will make such a difference to the amount of vegetables

must admit I am best in the greenhouse - and i do much better starting off plants as plugs then putting them out rather than sowing the seeds direct. dunnow what i do wrong but nothing seems to come of them when i plant outside direct....

The slugs usually get my plants if I plant direct along with the birds and the mice that eat everything on sight
