We love hearing from you, so here is your chance. Introduce yourself and tell us what makes you selfsufficient 'ish'. Go on don't be shy, we welcome one and all. You can also tell us how you heard about us if you like.
We heat with wood and it is two years heat supply(logs). Sucotash is a soup made with corn/okra/tomatoes. Some add lima beans and we do occasionally to some. We just cook the veggies together with salt/pepper to taste and can or freeze. Really simple but deeeeelicious on a cold winter day with "Ho cake". Before you ask about that-lol. It is just bread cooked in a frying pan or oven. You use self-rising,a little "greasins",and milk(just like a big biscuit). Afterwards open a jar of fig preserves and "pig out"(make a glutton of yourself). That and a glass of cold fresh milk--Mmmmm.

I can't even get to Aus or even the States. I gave up on the Frapp (crap) map ages ago because it just wants to go back to the UK/western Europe all the time. And it takes absolutely ages to reload every time you want to zoom in/move about a bit. And yes I am on ADSL.
" If you are not happy with the city that it puts you in you can move it to nearer where you actually live."
I can't figure out any way of moving my marker, other than deactivating my account & relisting with a new location.
My locale is named on the map when I hone down to fine detail, but when I type it into the "location" section of the sign-up process it throws me somewhere else!
Someone please enlighten me.......
If this is a dream I don't EVER want to wake up....
Hi everyone at Selfsufficient-ish.com. Found your website yesterday just browsing for organic seeds etc. Ive been thinking about having my first veggie patch in the back garden for sometime now, its a relatively small container garden. Following a recent holiday in sunny St ives Cornwall and a trip to the Eden Project followed by a trip to the CAT in Wales my husband said wouldnt it be a good idea if we could turn my fathers patch of land behind his house into an allotment and haven for nature and wildlife. Having the go ahead weve set to digging out 4 beds and preparing the ground for next year. Talk about back breaking but very satisfying - the ground was pretty much used for a dumping ground for an old building site (concrete, bricks, tarmac, steel, plastic, clay, sand, soil and believe it or not lots and lots of wormies.... which is a good thing)Ive been browsing the WWW to look for inspiration, tips and info for a complete first timer to this sort of gardening and when I bumped into your website thought it was fab - especially the 51 ways to get rid of slugs.... Ive added a few ideas myself to the forum last night. Anyway. Thought Id say a big hi to everyone and no doubt i'll be visiting regularly for tips and advice from all you pros.
Many thanks
