Half a dozen of those big bags - Ikea type blue and others - from the rubbish of a charity shop. Ever so useful on the allotment.

This is all from the amenity center....or dump as we call it

- Double Glazed door (everest, just put it in and it looks lovely)
- Fish Tank
- Shower
- plant pots
- compost
- baby back carrier
- coffee table
- chairs
- Bay Tree in pot
- Paving stones
- buckets (these were brand new we got 5 of em)
- wood for burning in our multi fuel burner
- mountain bike
- books
- garden table/bench

I think that's about it Mark would have brought home materials for work but I don't know about those

We were off to find some rubble for the bottom of our tyre planters the other day and came across a skip with piles of crushed brick in it... needless to say, some of said crushed brick is now in the boot of our car!

It's amazing the things people throw out tbh

It is amazing the things people throw out. The people on the corner of my parents street had a skip this time last year (almost everyone did, as they were having their earthquake damage fixed), and we got heaps of plant pots out of theirs. I walked past there the other day and they've got a skip back again! Amazes me how much stuff people get rid of. It just seems the norm to get a skip and dump the lot. Haven't seen anything good in it yet, however I will keep my eyes open and keep you guys updated on any great finds!

my local library sells what they can, don't know what they do with what they can't sell. mind you, there's nobody I know who can resist a book for 20p so maybe they do sell it all.

i recently got an iron double bed frame out of a neighbours skip, just needs a few new bolts. the skip was full of good, usable items of furniture, i would have taken more but we dont need anything and my garage is too full to store stuff. it makes me mad because we have plenty of charity shops and car boot sales, plus a fab community furniture project that takes all sorts of stuff to sell on dirt cheap topeople who need it. such a waste!

Barefootlinzi, that bed frame sounds very nice!

I recently got a pie server, a two-sided ladle, a rubber spatula, a glass baking dish, and a bean crock. I gave the bean crock to a neighbor.
Also got a large glass baking dish to give to a friend. And a fancy bundt cake pan for a neighbor.

They were in a pile to be given away. Not quite in the rubbish bin, but almost.

I used to work in a recycling centre/skip hire company, from that I got...

A ton of scrap upholstry fabric
A huge rainbow flag from the gay pride march
Cushions
Clothes from shops (shhhh!)
And three kittens that were dumped in skips (two together, one alone). The single kitten died after 10 days but the other two went on to have kittens and we kept them all!

Am so jealous! Where are all of you finding this stuff?!

Can you literally just walk into dumps and pinch stuff? I never see and skips around!

(if anyone wants to share good salvage spots in the guildford area with me I'd be grateful!)
