The boundaries which divide life from death
are at best shadowy and vague.
Who shall say where one ends,
and the other begins?

The commercial world, then, treats us like celebrities - 'Because you're worth it', it says. It flatters and kowtows to us and keeps on doing so right up to the moment when we hand over our credit card details . Then we are cast aside and condemed to a purgatory of being held in a queue on a customer service line for all eternity. What fools we are. ~ Tom Hodgkinson

A long time ago I couldn't sleep so I put the TV on and there was a film on about a woman from the deep south of America who looked back on her childhood and realised that it wasn't quite as she had perceived it as a child. It ended with a fantastic quote - "the truth depends on the light".

I'd love to know what the film was!!
Let us be lovely
And let us be kind
Let us be silly and free
It won't make us famous
It won't make us rich
But damn it how happy we'll be!

A native North American's view of the white man

"-for he is a stranger who comes in the night and takes from the land whatever he needs.
The Earth is not his brother, but his enemy, and when he has conquered it,
he moves on.
His appetite will devour the Earth and leave behind only a desert"

When I am grown-up I will understand how beautiful it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to torch all correspondence that bores me and to dance naked over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

Now that one I do like.

I've never heard of Edward Monkton, so I looked him up on Wikipedia.

There seem to be several versions of him, but his real life persona "...shares an office with writer Richard Curtis and radio and TV presenter Mariella Frostrup."

Can you imagine what an office with those three in it must be like?
