I have both - a pressure cooker is fantastic for quickly cooking a batch of dried pulses - no soaking just bung on and they're done in 3/4 of an hour.

But I wouldn't use it for cooking cheaper cuts of meat which I think needs a long slow cook to get really tender.

And I never use it for cooking veg - I too remember an aunt who made school dinner veg look al dente! :lol: :lol: :lol:

Good for mash, though - generally no need for mashing!

And I used to use it for beetroot, especially the larger ones.
