Gloucester has a farmers market every Friday at the cross...

Around the surrounding area of gloucester there are loads of farms that sell their produce, its just a matter of getting on your bike and getting out and about....

On a Thursday ( or so i think its a Thursday) the WI, have stalls in Gloucester Musuem, selling anything from plants to home made cakes.....

I'm not sure if this has already been mentioned, but in case it hasn't, Doncaster has a farmers market on the first and third Wednesday's of the month.

Carmarthen has a wonderful static market - so wonderful in fact, that the Council are going to flatten it so that Debenhams (who obviously did some powerful "bargaining" to get this prime site) can build there, and the "new" market is going to be put where the old livestock market was - and marginalised. So get here while you can - the main market days are Wednesday and Saturday, although there's something there every day of the week. There is the most fabulous cheese stall (MANY excellent locally made cheeses), good fruit and veg stalls, plants, books, antiques & collectables, material, WI stall, pictures, crafts etc, etc. There is also a farmers' market the first Friday of each month, which started off well, but is on the expensive side and last time I went there were only 7 or 8 stalls, many selling home-grown meat.

There are two good Health Food Shops - Aardvark, near the market, which concentrates on the edible side of things, and Waverley Stores in Lammas Street, which concentrates on the pills and potions side of things, but has a very good veggie cafe.

The Charity shops congregate from Notts Square up along King Street, with a couple (Barnado's and Sally Army) down the other end of town nearer the dreaded T***o. King Street, however, is being upgraded even as we speak and some "trendy" shops have taken over from the greengrocers and the pet shop which used to be there.

There is still a butchers in King Street, and two more around the market precinct, and a good fishmongers attached to the market one. At Abergwili there is a greengrocery wholesale place which has a stall on the market, and is competatively priced - I can get a box of cooking apples for about £7, and eaters for around £5. Some of the softer fruit needs using quickly though.

Should you need them, T***o, Morrisons, Co-op, Lidl and Kwik-Save have stores in the town.

Both a really good,weekly,farmers market and a traditional market in Cardiff. A bit annoying that the farmers market in on a Sunday when the other market is closed because I live about 5 mikes from the town centre and public transport is not cheap. There is also a large bootsale/market in Splott every Thursday-great for bargins.
On a day to day basis got a local co-op where i buy all my free trade stuff from.There is a few local butchers. Only one independent bakers which I use. Not that good though but dont want to give my money to Greggs. I also visit Lidls once a week to see what they got on offer l
