I have done virtually no shopping at all this year as I'm working through the store cupboard, using up frozen vegetables that the daughter kindly offered to store for me and the last items off the allotment.

Well I tell a fib as I've had to buy the annual potting compost quota for the tubs on the allotment, seed spuds and shallots. But that's all food production (yep I grow a certain amount of produce in tubs to use up more corners of the allotment). And due to having a major infestation of creeping buttercups and dandelions around the base of the hedges where digging is not possible I'm going to have to resort to the spray can. However once the areas are clear I shall be able to put more tubs in new corners and compost heaps in new corners. Just sometimes needs must.

I've posted this on the other thread - blown it - bought walking poles - no excuse (well there is on other thread). Will now go and self-flagellate, then start again - is that OK?

Confession, confession, confession

I bought a book.

See, I bought one as a gift, then treated myself to a copy,

I'll give away three I already own to make up & start afresh.

I'm participating in this!
Didn't see this 2009 entry, posted over in last years post instead.

I'm actually really excited about this and I don't intend on buying ANYTHING new from now on (I had started this on 1st January but I have failed dismally already so I am re-starting this again).
With the exceptions of:
Food
Loo roll and cleaning/toiletry products
Medicine
Anything that would jeopardize the health and safety of me and my family if I didn't buy new (have no idea what this would be but you never know!!)
Certain people's birthday and anniversary gifts (though all cards will be handmade)
Tobacco

Ah intention often gives way to temptation though.

I've run out of house space so can't buy anything new unless I throw something out. So nothing new it is.

We have decided that as the house is bursting at the seams with all sorts of useless stuff, that for everything we bring in three things must go! They won't be new things, but charity shop buys are okay aren't they? pbf

Definitely not Flo!! I look for gardening clothes, books, posh labels for size 10 daughter, wine racks for the home brew, material for sewing projects, wool for knitting, need I say more? pbf

Well! I knew I was taking this seriously, but now I'm slightly scared/smug - not an easy blend.

When we finally got married, OHs workmates gave us £100 giftcard. Ayway we lost it in the move and thought that was that.

Today I've been rooting round the house looking for anything I'd missed from my accounts (tax time folks!) and guess what I found. I ran giggling to the laptop happy to blow a ton of someone else's money. Could I find anything to buy? Could I hell. So it's gone back in the cupboard till we think of something/ they go bust - whichever's first!

I've taken to asking myself what two things I would get rid of if I bought something new when tempted. So far I've not decided to change anything old for anything new.

It's working for me
