What I found a bit annoying at the end of the programme, just as usual they didn't interview any of the many, many farmers who fell for GM crops and have now learned the hard way that it doesn't pay... I've heard from so many that after a few years of success (i.e. higher yields with lower inputs), the whole thing turned on them, the yields are now the same as before or lower, and inputs are higher! Years ago a Canadian farmer made a tour of Europe to warn our farmers not to make the same mistakes they made. And they are still touting it as more or less the only way to grow more food.
