Went to check the allotment after the rain and winds, hooray everything was still standing and I have seedlings, I even think that some are things I sowed :) Also planted some tomatoes, two bean plants and a random pea (the only one to germinate from an out of date pack).

put up some very rickety runner bean canes - (prunings from apple tree.) - replaced calabrese and cauliflower plants that have been eaten by slugs with spares - afterall we don't want the slugs and snails to go hungry now do we.... planted some lettuce in the gh - pulled more radishes planted more sweetcorn, sowed more runner, borlotti and dwarf french beans.

Lost one pumpkin and one melon which snapped in the wind but as they look so pathetic I just planted another seed in each planting hole as I don't hold out much hope for them as I sowed them too early.
My french beans are looking like they got windburn, leaves gone all crispy.
I have the grand total of 3 parsnips germinated out of a 12 foot row.

I am banned from planting/buying more tomatoes....
I have over 40 plants and 6 varieties in the greenhouse, and my OH doesn't even like tomatoes...

What are you up to in the allotment and garden

well, this weekend I dug out a flower bed to use for edibles come spring, I harvested a bunch of chilies and dried them, I made a lovely raspberry teabread from the last of my raspberries, I composted a whole heap of stuff (mainly the flowers and shrub I dug up! LOL), I pulled out the last of my tomatoes, and I prepared some pots for strawberries which will be arriving soon. My rocket, cabbage and winter carrots are coming along beautifully, and I hoed their bed. Set some cauliflower seed and planted some garlic.

Masco & Bongo-
Please don't worry, the year my Dad passed away, I harvested the garden-105 tomato plants-paste tomatoes, juicing tomatoes, plain canning tomatoes and made enough green tomato chutney to feed an army

Its about 20ft long and 10ft wide.... (but absolutely rotten and flaking away!)
Some of the toms will go outside, mainly because there's no room in the g/house, what with the peppers, cucumbers, chillis and grapevines....

Spent most of the afternoon pulling out all (?) the weeds that have decided
to pop up since we had the deluge of rain.
Back down there later on today to carry on the good work.
Might even plant some more spuds.

thinned the tomatoes out - i think i've got about 100 plants. might have to sell some...
Sowed some carrots and onions, more peas and more broad beans.
Sowed some marrows and courgettes
Sowed more lavender
Sowed soe Pak Choi
Sowed some Rocket
Replanted the Rocket, mizuna and Red Mustard that i found in Wilkos sale section.
Sowed some more lettuce leaves after the slugs enjoyed the last lot
Evicted 2 slugs from INDOORS!
Still got to:
String fences for squash
Plant out squash
plant out sweetcorn
get rid of some bl**dy tomato plants!
Move the onions already stuck in soil to a better place (dad has a habit of chucking sprouting onions anywhere, and he's put them in with my garlic, so they'#re going to have to move!!)
Do the same with the celery dad 'planted'
Get more cucumber seeds - the slugs ate all the shoots
What happens to celery that's been planted - as in, fully grown celery? Dad stuck some in soil and it has roots coming out. Will it go to seed? Or make new celery?
I can't work out whether i've got basil coming up or Pak Choi - its supposed to be Giant Basil, but it looks like Pak Choi and there's loads of the stuff!!

Sounds great Fee
Rick is still stringing deer fence but we got a bunch of plants at the nursery the other day and he's planted those.
We still have to put up strings for the peas and beans, weed out and plant a couple more beds.
Sometimes I think Rick is going in reverse, he's so slow some days

.
And don't worry-you'll use a lot of those tomatoes fresh and if you have a freezer-even a wee one you can put in a flat, that will help, plus you can bottle lots and if you have green tomatoes left over,PM me for a recipe for green tomato Chutney.
