I know I'm not in this group but I dip in occasionally. I just read the bit on calories and wondered if you knew how many calories are in your food?

It doesn't matter what the food is, it will be made up of proteins, fats and or carbs. There are 4kcal in each gram of protein or carb and 9kcal in a gram of fat.

In order to lose 1lb you need to either reduce your intake of calories and/or increase your exercise to account for 500g per day (3500kcal per week).

If you want to see what that looks like have a look at this.

Having seen Crowsashes snazzy ticker I decided to make myself one. Then began the fun bit - trying to get it onto my signature! My notepad seems to struggle wildly with the concept of "copy" and "paste". It can manage one but not two together. No matter how I try to catch it out!

I started the evening thinking, "No I don't want one after all", but then I felt as though it was a personal challenge to sort it out. Determined not to be beaten after all, I decided to put it on via OH's PC. So now I've joined the ticker club... I haven't quite worked out how the revised figs get on to the signature but assuming my weight goes in either direction next week I shall find out!
Growing old is much better then the alternative!

Both Mrs BA and her better half have lost 1 kg each this last week so we are back on track now.

Hi all, Hoping you dont mind but I would like to join your little group. I have signed up to do a sky dive at the end of april to raise funds for a neo natal ward in swansea, where my cousins baby born at 26 weeks spent a lot of time. I looked at the site of the flyers and although I am below the weight threshold, I want to lose a stone before then. So thats a target of 2lb a week. I will be weighing on the wii tonight and doing that daily, when possible. I have also found a community centre that holds classes with a free creche so will be trying that once/twice week.

Welcome from me too, and I hope you do better than me!! My grandchildren have just visited and bought me a box of chocolates. They are coming again on Thursday, so I just hope I can keep them until then and make them eat them. I don't weigh as I have no scales, but my jeans are definitely looser. pbf.

Weighing on the scales won't happen here either but I've had to buy a smaller work jacket and two smaller pairs of trousers since you started this thread.

I can fit a size 16 across the shoulders but not round the boobs - that's down nearly two sizes. Maybe if I drink less tea?

Well done on the weight loss. I'm glad that this threead has helped. I was doubtfull about it when I first posted it on the grounds of people not wanting to own up about their weight.

Well done to all who have lost this week.

Try the DLT weight loss improvement system..... eat a big bar of chocolate and it will kick start your metabolism.....

Change the way you eat. If you always have the same things for breakfast, like toast or porridge etc try something different like eggs and bacon.

The body gets used to the reduced calories and also the type of food we eat when we eat it so shake things up and you will have a good loss next week.

Thanks for that PBF! As for job I'm a spacka househusband, out my head on morphine most of the time now and formally a high quality candle maker of international standing. My interest in weight management stems from a long and arduous fight of over 25 years.....

Edited to add::: if you want to pay me £25 per hour I'll take it and I'll even bung a bit to charity who ever she is....
