Guys,
I am apalled all this underhanded nastyness! just for the best profit margins! why does it always have to be about money...I totally understand about earning a living, of course we all need to but just as all business these days why do we have to make bigger and bigger profit every year?

well anyway, I am seriously considering keeping my own, i'm thinking about perhaps 3/4 Hens, and I am totally new to this...What do I need to know, what would be the best Hens to go with? For my own consumption, will I need to vaccinate etc...

Any advice will be most welcome!

Thank you all
and i'm sorry for opening a huge can of worms!

ex-battery hens, or bantams, don't bother with vaccination, just give 'em bags of space, good food and water, and a nice wooden hen house (my comments on overpriced plastic ones are unprintable!). But be forewarned - it's how I started, with a few as a hobby.............
