glad it went well
himself and I managed to plasterboard a ceiling together.. tho it was funny - involved himself balancing a board on his head.. wearing a wooly hat as his head left a mark on the board
me holding the other end.. and with electric drill, screwing the board into place.
next time.. we might use much smaller plaster boards...

We are using 8 x 4 plasterboard, balancing on heads and on the top of the ladders, then lining it up and quickly screwing it in place with a drill each. So far we have only done 4 bits, another 6 to go, trouble is that one of us usually needs to be watching the small person, she only finds it amusing to watch mummy and daddy for about 20 mins before she gets fed up.
Red- if you use smaller bits you'll have more joints which are too fiddly to fill so we are using the biggest sheets available.
I'll go and take photos just now, and pop 'em up later. We don't have any 'work in progress' photos, as we were all too busy
Ina - glad you enjoyed the jam, it's not my favourite but a few other people I have given some to have asked for more

Before

After

Not great photos I'll admit but I have a wall, not just stone and a crappy wood frame. The photos don't show the amount of time and effort put in to the insulation or the wonky shapes around the windows.
I will continue to work on the livingroom any time I have and in a few days I'll post new photos (if anyone wants to see)

We have...
finished plasterboarding the ceiling.
Filled all the joints.
Sanded the filler
Stripped the wallpaper
Taken all the loose plaster off of the walls.
Replastered (with lime) where it needed patching up.
Painted original walls with lime paint.
Painted new wall, and ceiling with regular emulsion.
As yet, no tears have been shed

We are still not finished... need to do another coat of paint here and there, and finish patching some of the holes in the walls, and put down the flooring... but we are nearly there.

It's amazing what you can do, with a little help, and a lot of determination
