There are a bewildering range of options, which can be narrowed down by your technical competence and how much you are willing to pay.

As a long-term web-geek (and relatively thrifty to boot) I use a system called Blosxom but that does require some work to get things fitted together and I think that it is no longer being developed.

The other system I have experience of is Blogger, now owned by Google. That is also free and provides fairly good facilities. I still have a couple of blogs on there. Others may also be able to point to other options they have used.

cheers, paul
well blogging using a program is much easier and quicker than uploading a webpage.. I have been looking at wordpress and that seems very easy to use. I've been stupidly resistant to blogging, but as I enjoy reading some blogs,,, I'm getting over it!

I use wordpress and it is relatively simple. You can do quite alot with it, if you have the time to add the links, upload photos, edit, rearrange everything.

I haven't used any other blog site though so I don't know if this is standard.

Wordpress occasionally seems to run really slowly, I guess it's cause everyone up loads to it all the time making it's servers busy.
:?

Someday soon I hope to be in bed with the flu, so that I can polish my blog nicley and then I might not be so embarrased about letting people view it.

- Yes you read that right, I haven't been ill for at least a year and need a good full day in bed to fiddle with blogs and play ceasar 3 (a sim city type computer game) I am sure when I worked full-time and lived in the city I used to be sick at least once a season - damn you fresh country air and more natural lifestyle, damn you!

Also on Livejournal http://huswyf.livejournal.com which is easy to use and has some useful options - stopping anonymous posting and the ability to create private or "friends only" postings that only other LJ users on your friend list can see.

I also like the community feature on livejournal, there are some good groups for Ishers - I mean, "Compost Wackos", how could I NOT join!

the_fee_fairy.livejournal.com
and
fee_flower.livejournal.com

Not that i've actually updated on there for a long long time. I tried using it as a blog, but i found that i was writing complete drivel all the time!

Why worry? I write complete drivel on my blog all the time and many people seem to find it entertaining. Either that, or they're just far too tolerant of drivelling, grumpy old gits...
