I leave the house at 8.30am with my 2 boys. Next we call along the road and pick up my twin godsons aged 5 and their mum. On the next corner another mum is waiting with her two children. We collect sticks and stones (which have to be put down before we get to playground). We see squirrels, snail and worms. At the moment we can grab the odd blackberry as well. The home journey is harder as it's up hill but we are never in a rush and get home when we do. I know if one of the boys is ill there is someone else that can take them as well.

by getting there
I've never owned a car so my options used to be walk or bike. Once a fortnight I would catch a taxi home with the groceries.

Now that I have Loralei we still walk everywhere. Basically since she could walk I have let her till she gets tired then I put her in the stroller. Slowly the distance and speed have increased. At the moment (18mo) she walks about 500m before sitting on the ground to play. She still has plenty of energy at that stage but she's bored with walking and has moved onto a new 'game'.
