Well we have had to get some severe dry rot treatment done at the same time so it is all (supposed to be) working together.

The slaters came to remove the first metre of slates for access to the wall plate (?) and rafter ends they had a good look at the slates and reckon they are in good condition, in fact they think more than 90% are reusable so that is what we are going for. The guys doing dry rot treatment need to use the roofers scafold to get upto the roof though - they never told us this to start with. We are currently waiting for a report from Scottish Power to decide whether they have to disconect us (and our neighbours) to make the cables safe to work near. (they come in 6 inches above the front door)

So it is all fun... I haven't been on here for a week or so as we have been rushed off our feet trying to get all this stuff done, it is exhausting.

Thanks for asking

Oh... and I doubt that they will redress all the slates, but they were the best company that we found, who could work around our schedule. We hope for the best.

Good news that they decided they could reuse the slates! I guess a dodgy outfit would just want to sell you Chinese or Spanish cr*p ones!

Fingers crossed all goes well - just think about when it is all finished! As my Dad would always say when we finished a new slate roof: That roof will see us oot! (He would be long gone before the roof gave up!)
